Water Baptism at Victory Faith

If you've made the decision to follow Jesus, water baptism is a wonderful next step. It's a public declaration of your faith and a celebration of the new life you have in Christ.

We'd love to celebrate this important moment with you and help you take your next step in following Jesus.

"We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that... we too may live a new life."
— Romans 6:4

Baptism Facts

Why Be Baptized?

Water baptism is an important step of obedience for every follower of Jesus Christ. While baptism does not save us, it is a public declaration of the salvation we have already received through faith in Jesus. It is an opportunity to identify with Christ and celebrate the new life He has given us.

Jesus Himself was baptized, setting an example for all who would follow Him, and He commanded His disciples to baptize believers in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

“As soon as Jesus was baptized, He went up out of the water… and a voice from heaven said, ‘This is my Son, whom I love; with Him I am well pleased.'”
Matthew 3:16–17

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
Matthew 28:19–20

What Does Baptism Mean?

Water baptism is a public celebration of what Jesus has already done in your heart.

You Are Following Jesus

Baptism is your public declaration that you have placed your faith in Christ and chosen to follow Him.

“Those who accepted his message were baptized.”
Acts 2:41

You Have Been Made New

Going under the water symbolizes leaving your old life behind. Rising from the water represents the new life you have in Christ.

“We were therefore buried with Him through baptism… that we too may live a new life.”
Romans 6:4

You Belong to God’s Family

Baptism is also a celebration that you have become part of God’s family and His Church.

“For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.”
Galatians 3:27

Should I Be Baptized Again?

If you were baptized after making a personal decision to follow Jesus, there is generally no need to be baptized again.

However, if you were baptized before placing your faith in Christ, or if your earlier baptism did not represent your personal commitment to follow Jesus, you may choose to be baptized as a believer. Many people find great joy in publicly declaring the faith they now personally embrace.

If you’re unsure, we’d love to talk with you and help you discern your next step.

Can My Child Be Baptized?

Yes—when they are ready.

At Victory Faith, we believe baptism is for those who have personally placed their faith in Jesus Christ and understand the meaning of their decision.

Before being baptized, we encourage children to be able to explain:

  • Who is Jesus?
  • What does it mean to follow Him?
  • Why do you want to be baptized?
  • What does baptism represent?

We believe baptism should be the joyful expression of a child’s personal faith, not simply something done because others are doing it.

What About Infants?

At Victory Faith, we practice Child Dedication rather than infant baptism.

Just as Mary and Joseph dedicated Jesus to the Lord (Luke 2:22–40), we believe parents can publicly dedicate their children to God while committing to raise them in the knowledge and love of Christ.

Later, when children personally choose to follow Jesus and understand the meaning of baptism, we encourage them to be baptized as believers.

Child dedication celebrates a parent’s commitment.

Believer’s baptism celebrates a person’s commitment to Christ.
